The Singing Silver Unicorn

As a special Easter gift, we had given 2 movies - one in each basket - to the girls. Deborah had already seen "Despereaux" (her Godmother took her), but none of us had seen "Bolt". We decided that, since we didn't have much going on after Church, the girls and I would watch both movies. Snowy had a few things he wanted to do.

First was "Despereaux" (chosen by a flip of the coin). Incredible voice cast, including Matthew Broderick, Sigourney Weaver and Dustin Hoffman. The animation is gorgeous; at one point a character is called and slightly startled; the slight jump the character gave was so REAL! The story is very good and had a couple of interesting plot twists. However, it is very dark and somewhat serious (taking into consideration we're talking about mice, rats and soup). There was a lot of action, and it held all of us.

"BOLT" ROCKS!!! It was SUCH a fun movie! Lots of action, lots of humor, very very little grown-up, over-the-kids-heads' stuff (at one point you can tell that Rhino the Hampster is watching "A-Team"). There's a running gag with various pigeons trying to remember where they've seen Bolt before. Cast list includes John Travolta, Miley Cyrus and Malcolm McDowell.
