We are having a quiet morning at home, then after a while we are heading to the southside to hang out with SonWorshiper and the parents (and Mr. Carrots!). Should be a nice day. :)

We originally went out to do laundry, but there wasn't a single open laundromat anywhere. We ended up doing a little shopping. Snowy helped me pick out some new work sandals, then surprised me by picking out a nice pair of Sunday sandals (usually I just wear my work sandals to church, because they're somewhat dressy). We also picked up a convection oven. We're hoping the rain lets up enough to take the girls to see the fireworks for the first time.

Who's yours?

We went to the lake and swam, then went over to the pastor's house for a cookout. We had a great day...new pics on facebook for those interested.

We did manage to let the girls see the fireworks; they loved them! We found a great place to sit - a grassy area in front of a shopping plaza. There were a few other people there, too, all of us with our lawn chairs set up. We were far enough away so that it wasn't too loud (Elizabeth isn't a fan of loud), but could see all but the lowest ground effects. The only thing that was annoying were the kids sitting near us, saying, "Oh, man...I've seen better." and one 8-ish-year-old girl whining, "I can't SEE!" (How she couldn't see is beyond me.) I was SOOO tempted to tell those kids who had "seen better" that I had been in Washington DC for the 1976 fireworks - how's THAT for seeing better - but decided to just let it go.

Anyway, the girls had a great time, and really enjoyed their first fireworks. Note to self, tho: next time, bring sweaters!
