I know everyone here is aware of the job struggles and frustrations I have been going through for the last several years. For some time I've been struggling with where God would have me be and with feeling that my time at the school was over/drawing to a close. Some of you are also aware that I have been praying about the possibility of taking over my mentor's position at the community college near where I live. This past year it seemed that that door may be closing when the college replaced him with an adjunct (and the position didn't go to me). Recently I became aware that the college has experienced an increase in enrollment and would be hiring 8-10 professors for next year. For quite a while I have been checking the college job postings at least once a week. Today it posted. It is for a Faculty position, is an Annual Contract Appointment and the posted salary is about $10,000 less than I currently make; however, THE JOB POSTED! If God wants me there, He'll take care of the rest. (if he doesn't want me there, I need help knowing what He does want me to do, where He wants me to go, etc) I've already filed a job pool card. In an interesting turn of God having a sense of humor, the posting closes on my birthday. Please pray for me and for this. (Oh! and if you don't mind, please don't mention this on Facebook. People I work with and former students are on there and are connected with me. I don't want any of this information to be leaked at school until I know something for sure. The school is a terrible gossip mill. On here, though, it is totally safe.) |

The department head and I exchanged emails this week. Jennifer is a graduate of the school where I teach and I worked with her mother for 2 years (before the mom took a job down south near Miami). In fact, her mother was one of the ones who conducted my interviews when I was hired at CRHS. God truly has an interesting way of knitting everything together. Jennifer told me I was the first to get my application card submitted. Also she told me that she hoped we would be talking soon! Learned this week that people that know the current adjunct, the department head (Jennifer) and me have been talking me up to Jennifer and the adjunct. Also, someone totally unconnected out of the blue this week told me that they thought I would be a fantastic college professor and had I ever thought about moving up to the college level. |

I went and told the principal today that I had applied for the job at the college and they might be calling within the next 4 weeks for a reference. He was VERY supportive and agreed this would be a great opportunity. He said he knew I wanted to just teach theatre and that he was sorry that wasn't the case at the school. He promised to let me know if the college calls for a reference. It was a positive encounter. VERY different from what it would have been like with the previous 2 'bosses'. God has brought another piece into place. Sixteen more days until the posting closes. Lord, is THIS why I've been waiting?? It feels like this journey has been so long. I'm really ready for the next adventure. |

Yes, very much so. He has been very impressed with the work the kids and I do. The woman in the room next to mine (Suzette) was an Assistant Principal with Boss at the Middle School for several years and they have a very close relationship. I'm sure they have talked about me and that she has shared her thoughts. (thankfully she and I get along very well!) I don't even want to think about what either of the last two bosses would have said. They would have been mean and cruel just to stand in the way of me moving on to something like this. Boss agreed with me that this move could benefit the high school as well. I would be an excellent contact and could come back to the school to talk to the kids about what to expect in college and what the professors expect from students. |

And things just keep happening. I just found out the the current adjunct spent numerous years in San Diego and Los Angeles. She spent 14 years at the community college less than 15 minutes from my home in San Diego. She probably knows my h.s. Drama teacher and would know the reputation of my high school. I'm not building myself up with all the 'signs'. I'm more amazed at how God pulls details together. |

{{{hugs}}} Thank you so much. I just got home and changed. The interview went well but was difficult, too. Some of the questions weren't easy in the least! Now it goes back to waiting. They have more interviews next week and then will start deciding. They will notify by the end of April/First of May (the end of their school year). So, please keep praying! I really want this position. |

I was walking down the 300 hall today and found myself praying for the school and praying that it is my time to leave. I just don't even feel right here. It's like being a square peg in a round hole. I've tried to make myself fit, but it doesn't work. |

{{{hugs}}} Thank you, Jams. (Lately I'm feeling more abused than used, though) Today I also had a moment when I wondered what I should be doing for a living. If God doesn't give me this job, what should I be doing? Anyone feel like being my 'career counselor'? |

Got a text from WH a bit ago that I got a letter from the college. I'm nervous, excited and terrified all at the same time. Whatever the answer is, I know it is an answer from God. However, if they say 'no', it is going to be hard not to be discouraged. |

(x-posted to MC) I got my answer... God said "no". The committee decided to select another candidate. WH and I both are feeling discouraged. I can't even think about that this means facing another year at the high school. Another year of teaching English and Drama. Another year of frustration. I don't understand and maybe for now I won't. |

There is one; however, they don't have a Drama program. Also, a lot of the situation at that school is it being where parents send their kids if they are expelled or about to be expelled from the public schools. I understand Seven Rivers (the name of the school and the affiliated church) has been having HUGE problems this year. There are several in Ocala; however, in this recession no one is interested in hiring more than they need and the arts really aren't a focus. Another issue I face with private schools is that I'm divorced. Many private Christian schools will not hire a teacher that has been through divorce or is divorced and remarried. Part of me wonders if I should be teaching at all. |

Do you feel a sense of peace in your heart, even in your dislike for your job, that this is where God wants you to be, G_G? If you don't feel that peace, then you should look into other things that you enjoy, and I pray God leads you somewhere where you will be appreciated and ministered to. I can't tell you how much my heart is broken for you.
