I know everyone here is aware of the job struggles and frustrations I have been going through for the last several years. For some time I've been struggling with where God would have me be and with feeling that my time at the school was over/drawing to a close. Some of you are also aware that I have been praying about the possibility of taking over my mentor's position at the community college near where I live. This past year it seemed that that door may be closing when the college replaced him with an adjunct (and the position didn't go to me). Recently I became aware that the college has experienced an increase in enrollment and would be hiring 8-10 professors for next year. For quite a while I have been checking the college job postings at least once a week. Today it posted. It is for a Faculty position, is an Annual Contract Appointment and the posted salary is about $10,000 less than I currently make; however, THE JOB POSTED! If God wants me there, He'll take care of the rest. (if he doesn't want me there, I need help knowing what He does want me to do, where He wants me to go, etc) I've already filed a job pool card. In an interesting turn of God having a sense of humor, the posting closes on my birthday. Please pray for me and for this. (Oh! and if you don't mind, please don't mention this on Facebook. People I work with and former students are on there and are connected with me. I don't want any of this information to be leaked at school until I know something for sure. The school is a terrible gossip mill. On here, though, it is totally safe.) |

The department head and I exchanged emails this week. Jennifer is a graduate of the school where I teach and I worked with her mother for 2 years (before the mom took a job down south near Miami). In fact, her mother was one of the ones who conducted my interviews when I was hired at CRHS. God truly has an interesting way of knitting everything together. Jennifer told me I was the first to get my application card submitted. Also she told me that she hoped we would be talking soon! Learned this week that people that know the current adjunct, the department head (Jennifer) and me have been talking me up to Jennifer and the adjunct. Also, someone totally unconnected out of the blue this week told me that they thought I would be a fantastic college professor and had I ever thought about moving up to the college level. |

I went and told the principal today that I had applied for the job at the college and they might be calling within the next 4 weeks for a reference. He was VERY supportive and agreed this would be a great opportunity. He said he knew I wanted to just teach theatre and that he was sorry that wasn't the case at the school. He promised to let me know if the college calls for a reference. It was a positive encounter. VERY different from what it would have been like with the previous 2 'bosses'. God has brought another piece into place. Sixteen more days until the posting closes. Lord, is THIS why I've been waiting?? It feels like this journey has been so long. I'm really ready for the next adventure. |

Yes, very much so. He has been very impressed with the work the kids and I do. The woman in the room next to mine (Suzette) was an Assistant Principal with Boss at the Middle School for several years and they have a very close relationship. I'm sure they have talked about me and that she has shared her thoughts. (thankfully she and I get along very well!) I don't even want to think about what either of the last two bosses would have said. They would have been mean and cruel just to stand in the way of me moving on to something like this. Boss agreed with me that this move could benefit the high school as well. I would be an excellent contact and could come back to the school to talk to the kids about what to expect in college and what the professors expect from students. |

And things just keep happening. I just found out the the current adjunct spent numerous years in San Diego and Los Angeles. She spent 14 years at the community college less than 15 minutes from my home in San Diego. She probably knows my h.s. Drama teacher and would know the reputation of my high school. I'm not building myself up with all the 'signs'. I'm more amazed at how God pulls details together. |
